THE PHOTOPHOBIAS REPORT 1Spring 2002a post trip memo |

"Men weren't meant to ride with clouds beneath their knees". I heard this in a song and used it as an excuse to drive out west this month. Too many hassles flying lately and too much equipment I wanted to take along. I also had too few miles on my truck after having it for ten years. I wasn't even keeping up with the little old lady down the street who only drives to church on Sunday. Leaving on Tuesday morning and arriving at Bryce Canyon on Thursday evening it was not a bad drive at all. The Sun had gone behind clouds before the sunset so the light I was hoping for never materialized. I stayed at the elaborate Ruby's Inn just outside the park and hoped for a good sunrise. Unfortunately, it was raining as the day started and I was foiled yet again. Finally, by mid-morning the rain let up and some partial clearing gave some pretty nice light there for the last two hours before I had to head out. |

I was really hoping to get some snow while I was here. It is not uncommon at this time of year but did not happen this week. I'd have liked more time here but I had to head for Hurricane to meet up with 7 other photographers along with our professional leaders for 4 days of organized shooting of animals. |
